The woman jogger is tenacious. She is surrounded by "hungry ghosts", Buddhist mythical beings that did not control their appetites during life. The swamp has no firm ground, nevertheless she persisted moving forward, slogging her way through the muck. The lotus symbolizes the Bodhisattva, the enlightened being that transcends the mud. This was my last painting of 2016 completed after the November 8th election results.
