Poet, Luisa A Igloria's Evidence in the Undercurrent was recently penned in response to my It is Rumored: Bloody Point, MD. She captures in luscious and chilling words the mystery of this enimagtic and changing region located in the Eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay.
It is Rumored: Bloody Point, MD is my first double sided translucent free hanging scroll. It moves slowly so that the viewer can see both sides of the paintings' narratives. Light changes over the fragile paper and stories unfold. Bloody Point, MD is the site of many documented and rumored horrific events seemingly a contradiction to this region's abundance and beauty. And yet, its history, written and rumored, epitomizes Maryland's colonial and racist past of subterfuge and exploitation.
