Inspired by Michael Salcman’s poem, Mother of the Bay, Green Moon of Great Mother of the Bay - Tight Squeeze emphasizes the womb like quality of the Bay. The Chesapeake Bay is the womb for enumerable species. While pollution has decreased, oyster beds have increased and porpoises are now thriving in some rivers, the Bay's islands and shorelines are disappearing. The Bay's natural process of sinking is exacerbated by increasing levels of CO2 in our atmosphere causing warming waters, melting glaciers and dying coral reefs. If we continue on our present course unabated there will be a time of atmospheric poisoning and mass extinctions.. We are in the process of destroying our Garden of Eden.
"The next generation and all the generations afterwards may well die under a green sky.” 2. Jenkins, Mark. Greenland: Ground Zero for Global Warming. National Geographic, June 2010, Vol. 217, no 8
