Several antique photographs were sources for Raised With Walls - Bad Education. I identify with boys of an era. I feel their desire to please. They are not yet formed but are boys molded within a field of red blood. They are caught in an endless chain of mis-education, taught to be soldiers: a rock throwing youngster of the Palestinian Intifada, Japanese boys of the early twentieth century marching in military formation, an Israeli child holding a lethal knife and an American boy proud to pose at attention. It is bad education when young boys are taught to fill boots they are too young to understand.
