girl holding bird cage, Egyptian images populate the magical environment
Bedtime For Raggedy Ann, Isis & Others

2003

When I first found the image of the small girl, ready for bedtime and holding a white wire mesh bird cage, I was enchanted. The girl reminded me of an Egyptian pictograph. I allowed my imagination to wander and thought of the routines and fears associated with bedtime. Maybe the girl also needed her doll as well as the help of the goddesses and gods that populated her bedroom environment.
